A mid-century Japanese decorative porcelain plate, hand-finished with gold accents. A woman in an elaborate red kimono stands beneath cherry blossoms and a pine, with a five-story pagoda and Mt. Fuji behind her, and a classical waka in flowing calligraphy across the upper field. The verse appears to be poem 73 of the Hyakunin Isshu by Ōe no Masafusa, on cherry blossoms and morning mist.
Marked on the reverse with a red kiln seal over "JAPAN," which dates it to after 1952. The specific kiln is not identified.
Diameter: 8½ inches
Condition: Excellent. No chips, cracks, or crazing. Gold rim bright and complete with no visible wear. Adhesive label removed from the reverse; slight residue shadow may remain, not visible when displayed.
